Writing the post about books on nalbinding made me realise that it was a long time since I did some nalbinding. I decided to make a hat. I had to practice a bit before starting on the hat, but I soon got the knack of it again.
I made it large since I had decided to full it when finished. The result is as intended, thick and warm but I will have to wait until winter before using it.
Lars, when you showed us the tools you used in nalbinding, I wondered what you could make with it but now I see. How clever. You hat is lovely and people were using this form of knitting 1500 years ago. You are a wonderful teacher.
SvaraRaderaTank you Ron!
RaderaHi! Your cap is so nice. I am a beginner in nålbinding. I used to crochet. How many stitches did you use to start the round top? And how did you increase?
SvaraRaderaHi Magda
SvaraRaderaI am sorry to say that I did not make notes when I made this hat, so I can´t say the number of stitches or the rate of increases.
I increased by binding twice in the same loop.
There are excellent video instructions on YouTube if you search for the account "Neulakintaat". She has videos for many stitches and techniques, also for how to start binding in the round.
All the best
Lars
